HEA 1335 Summary

• Adds The Neurodiagnostic Institute and Advanced Treatment Center to the definition of state institutions under the division of mental health and addiction's control, effective July 1, 2017.

• Expands medical education access to all state mental health institutions for instruction of medical students, interns, and resident and fellow physicians, removing the restriction that limited this to Larue D. Carter Memorial Hospital.

• Authorizes the director of the division of mental health and addiction to contract for management and clinical operation of any state institution, including with nonstate entities for services, replacing the prior limitation to only Larue D. Carter Memorial Hospital.

• Maintains the restriction preventing closure, merger, or consolidation of Evansville State Psychiatric Treatment Center for Children and Evansville State Hospital before July 1, 2014, unless authorized by the general assembly or recommended by the established council.
