Legislative council is urged to assign an appropriate study committee during the 2017 interim to study goals, benchmarks, and plans to reduce diabetes incidence in Indiana, improve diabetes care, and control complications.

Study committee must assess the financial impact and reach of all types of diabetes in Indiana, evaluate benefits of current diabetes programs, and identify current and collaborative efforts to address diabetes.

Study committee shall issue a final report to the legislative council by November 1, 2017, containing findings, recommendations, estimated costs for each recommendation, and any recommended legislation.

Report recommendations must be evidence-based and address reducing the impact of prediabetes, diabetes, and diabetes-related complications.

An emergency is declared for the act, and Section 1 expires December 31, 2017.
