Indiana Minority Mental Health Professional Association, Inc., a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization incorporated in 1999, was founded by Shelvy Haywood Keglar, Ph.D., William Lawson, M.D., and Anita Harden, RN MSN to address mental health disparities in minority communities

The association serves the entire state of Indiana across multiple disciplines including psychology, social work, nursing, psychiatry, mental health counseling, addiction counseling, pastoral counseling, and marriage and family counseling

The organization's mission includes eliminating disparities in mental health services to minorities, promoting positive mental health, disseminating accurate information, advocating for research, monitoring mental health legislation affecting minorities, and addressing managed care issues

A major accomplishment of the association is initiating efforts to pass legislation to expunge and seal felony records in Indiana, recognizing that felony convictions create barriers to reintegration into society and family

The Indiana General Assembly recognizes the outstanding work of the Indiana Minority Mental Health Professional Association, Inc., and directs the Principal Clerk of the House to transmit a copy of the resolution to the organization
