House Concurrent Resolution 1065

• Commemorates the 200th anniversary of George W. Julian's birth on May 5, 1817, in Wayne County, Indiana
• Recognizes Julian's political career serving in the Indiana General Assembly and five terms in the United States House of Representatives across five different parties (Whig, Free Soil, Republican, Liberal Republican, and Democrat)
• Honors Julian's legislative achievements including securing passage of the Homestead Act of 1862, supporting the Thirteenth Amendment abolishing slavery, and introducing the first Congressional act to grant women the right to vote
• Notes Julian's appointment as surveyor general of the New Mexico territory by President Grover Cleveland in 1885 and his death on July 7, 1899, in Irvington
• Directs the Principal Clerk of the House to transmit a copy of the resolution to the Irvington Historical Society, Indiana Historical Bureau, and Wayne County Visitors Bureau
