The Indiana General Assembly recognizes the 65th anniversary of the Association for the Disabled of Elkhart County (ADEC), founded in 1952 as The Council for Retarded Children of Elkhart County and renamed in the 1970s.

ADEC operates in St. Joseph and Elkhart counties, serving over 1,000 individuals and families with more than 400 employees providing five day service programs, employment opportunities, and group home services.

The organization's four core values are: A life of their own (clients make own choices and pursue passions); Dignity (clients receive respect and protection from exploitation); Employment (clients find meaning in work); and Community (clients access local opportunities).

The Indiana General Assembly recognizes the many services provided by ADEC to citizens in need in St. Joseph and Elkhart counties.

The Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives shall transmit a copy of the resolution to Donna L. Belusar, Ph.D., president and chief executive officer of the Association for the Disabled of Elkhart County.
