Indiana House of Representatives congratulates members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. on Delta Day at the Indiana State Capitol on February 16, 2017.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded on January 13, 1913, by 22 collegiate women at Howard University to promote academic excellence and provide assistance to those in need.

The sorority has a sisterhood of more than 250,000 predominantly Black college-educated women with over 900 chapters in the United States and abroad; Indiana has 12 chapters with 807 financial members.

Indiana chapters institute activities that foster equal opportunity and human rights, support education at all levels including early childcare and postsecondary education, and advocate for legislation adding bias-motivated language to state and local laws.

Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives shall transmit a copy of the resolution to Marcedia Bolden, Indiana state coordinator, and Monique Armstrong, Indiana Social Action coordinator.
