Indiana House of Representatives congratulates Springs Valley Junior Senior High School Blackhawk Brigade on winning the 2016 ISSMA Class D Marching Band State Championship.

The 2016 championship marks the third state title for the Blackhawk Brigade, with previous championships in 1977 and 2010, and the first undefeated musical season.

The Blackhawk Brigade program began in 1938 with Helen and Gilbert Aylsworth and has involved three generations of music educators from the Aylsworth family in Springs Valley.

The band has additional achievements including seven ISSMA State Runner-Up finishes (1978, 1992, 2007, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015), a BOA Grand Nationals Semi-finalist appearance in 2009, and recognition as one of "The Best Communities for Music Education" by the NAMM Foundation.

Principal Clerk of the House shall transmit a copy of the resolution to band members, Director Luke Aylsworth, assistant directors, school principal Jim Bush, and superintendent Tony Whitaker.
