Senate Bill 434 Summary

• Adds new section IC 31-25-2-7.5 to require the department of child services to provide and administer services and programs for prevention of child sexual abuse and exploitation and treatment and assistance for victims and their families, effective July 1, 2017.

• Mandates development of educational materials on child sexual abuse and exploitation including statistics on prevalence, warning signs, reporting duties, and available resources, to be made available through training seminars and the department's website.

• Requires counseling and assistance services targeted to victims of child sexual abuse and their families, which may include cooperation with state and local agencies and organizations providing such services.

• Establishes training requirements for local office employees on treatments and services targeted to meet the needs of victims of child sexual abuse and exploitation.
