• Recognizes and honors Superintendent Nathaniel (Nate) Jones for his service to public education in Indianapolis, Indiana

• Jones became the first African-American Superintendent of the Metropolitan School District of Pike Township in 2003 and is the first African-American Superintendent who graduated from Indianapolis Public Schools to serve in this role in Indiana

• During his tenure as Superintendent, graduation rates have been between 92-94%, with his high school recognized as one of the most challenging in the nation; his administration increased scholarships and grants, implemented new programs, and oversaw major construction and renovation of facilities

• Jones has over 43 years of experience in education, including over 25 years in the Washington Township School system in positions such as Principal, Director of Elementary Education, and Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum/Instruction

• Secretary of the Senate shall transmit a copy of the resolution to Nathaniel Jones
