Indiana Senate acknowledges the importance of after-school programs and supports the Indiana Afterschool Network's positive impact on Hoosier children

More than 69% of Indiana children have both parents working outside the home, with approximately 221,761 children unsupervised between 3 and 6 PM

Although 308,914 students would participate in after-school programs if available, only 123,163 currently participate in such programs

Indiana Afterschool Network partners with the Afterschool Alliance to organize "Lights On Afterschool," a nationwide event launched in October 2000 celebrating after-school programs, with 50 programs in 50 Indiana communities participating in 2016

Secretary of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of the resolution to Indiana's Congressional delegation
