Scored more than 2,000 career points for Muncie Central High School Bearcats and was named Indiana's Mr. Basketball in 1960.

Won the 1962 NCAA championship with the University of Cincinnati and was named First-Team All American as a junior and Second-Team All American as a senior.

Played professionally for the Boston Celtics in two NBA championships and the Indiana Pacers starting in 1967; served three terms as Delaware County Commissioner and was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in November 1990.

Served as superintendent of Prairie Creek Reservoir for nearly 38 years and was voted the top local player of all time in a 1995 Muncie Evening Press poll with 80 percent of the vote.
