Designates April 12, 2017 as Young Black Males Legislative Day at the Statehouse, when students from around Indiana gather to demonstrate their voice in government.

Acknowledges disparities affecting Black males including high underachievement rates, low reading proficiency by third grade, lower high school graduation rates, and longer incarceration sentences compared to white male counterparts.

Recognizes connections between low education attainment, unemployment, family disruption, and higher rates of victimization and homicide among young Black males.

Directs the Secretary of the Senate to present copies of the resolution to James Garrett and Kenneth Allen.

Passed by the Senate Committee on Public Policy with a vote of 10-0 on March 30, 2017.
