IN HB1144

Amends IC 22-11-14-10.5 to allow counties and municipalities to regulate consumer fireworks and items listed in section 8(a) of the fireworks chapter in unincorporated and incorporated areas respectively.

Expands the definition of "use" to include regulation of days and hours when consumer fireworks or section 8(a) items may be used, ignited, or discharged.

Changes protected fireworks dates from June 29, 30, July 1, 2, 3, and 5 to July 3 and July 5 only for the 5:00 p.m. to two hours after sunset time window.

Adds July 6, 7, 8, and 9 as dates when municipalities cannot limit fireworks use between 5:00 p.m. and two hours after sunset.

Maintains existing protections for July 4 (10:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight) and December 31 to January 1 (10:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.) when fireworks use cannot be restricted.
