Legislative Description

Libraries. Merges the Indiana historical bureau (bureau) into the Indiana state library (library) as a division of the library. (Current law specifies that the bureau and the library are separate divisions of the Indiana library and historical department (ILHD).) Specifies that: (1) the ILHD shall manage the library; and (2) the library shall manage the bureau. Requires the director of the library to appoint a deputy director of the bureau. (Current law requires the board of the ILHD to appoint a director of the bureau.) Makes the following changes to the membership of the state oversight committee on public records
