HCR 0021 Summary

• Urges the Indiana Department of Transportation to rename the bridge along State Road 28 over U.S. Highway 31 in honor of Tipton County Deputy Jacob Calvin.

• Deputy Calvin was killed on June 28, 2014, in a single vehicle accident while responding to an accident near County Road 300 West and County Road 300 South.

• Deputy Calvin had served with the Tipton County Sheriff's Department for two and one-half years, served six years in the United States Air Force including deployment to Iraq as a military policeman, and volunteered with the Kempton Volunteer Fire Department as a firefighter and emergency medical technician.

• Directs the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives to transmit a copy of the resolution to the Indiana Department of Transportation commissioner and Deputy Calvin's family.

• Passed the House on March 7, 2018 (86-0) and received a favorable recommendation from the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Transportation on March 13, 2018.
