WTLC-FM was founded by Dr. Frank Lloyd and launched in Indianapolis from the Dearborn Hotel in 1968.

The station is owned and operated by Radio One and operates alongside sister stations AM 1310 The Light, Hot 96.3, Radio NOW 100.9, BOOM 102.9, La Grande 105.1, and Telemundo Indy.

WTLC-FM is known as "Indy's R&B Leader" and uses an Urban Adult Contemporary format, receiving awards including the Indianapolis Broadcasters Association Station of the Year in 2006 and Billboard Magazine Station of the Year.

The station has raised millions of dollars for community philanthropies including the Mozel Sanders Thanksgiving Dinner, United Negro College Fund, St. Jude Hospital, NAACP, Operation PUSH, and Martin University.

The Indiana General Assembly recognizes WTLC-FM's 50 years of service to the community and the Principal Clerk of the House will transmit a copy of the resolution to Deon Levingston, vice president and general manager of Radio One Indianapolis.
