Lake County Public Library received the Indiana Library Federation Outstanding Library Award in 2017 for outstanding service that exceeds user expectations and serves as an exemplary model for other libraries.

Library system was established in 1952 and became fully independent in 1959; today it is Indiana's third largest library comprising nine locations serving 13 communities.

LCPL offers free English as a Second Language and citizenship courses, extensive online resources including research tools, streaming media, eBooks and audiobooks, and issued 44,000 digital access cards to students in school districts.

The library is led by director Ingrid Norris and supported by 207 staff members, an active board of trustees, the Lake County Public Library Foundation, and the Friends of Lake County Public Library.

Indiana General Assembly congratulates Lake County Public Library on receiving the Outstanding Library Award and directs the Principal Clerk of the House to transmit a copy of this resolution to the library.
