Eric Joseph Wickens was born July 29, 1969, at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and died unexpectedly on August 12, 2017, shortly after performing the national anthem at Grand Park in Westfield.

Wickens was the official voice of the national anthem for the Indy Fuel, a member of the Indianapolis Opera Chorus, co-founder of the Lyric Opera, and artist in residence through the Indiana History Museum.

He performed frequently at sporting events including Indianapolis Indians baseball games since 2015 and was known for annual Halloween performances at Crown Hill Chapel.

Wickens is survived by his parents Daniel and Pamela, wife Kelly Wood, 3-year-old son Quinten ("Quincy") Orion Wickens, and sisters Corrine Wickens and Catherine Snider.

The Indiana General Assembly expresses sincere condolences to the family and appreciation for the years of classical music Wickens brought to Indiana communities.
