Representative Steven Stemler, elected to represent House District 71 in 2006, is leaving the Indiana House of Representatives at the end of the 2018 session.

Served on the Government and Regulatory Reform Committee, Roads and Transportation Committee, Statutory Committee on Ethics, and Ways and Means Committee during his tenure.

Authored House Enrolled Act 1211 establishing the Transborder Water Resources Authority to monitor shared water resources between Indiana and other states.

Secured $63 million in funding for the Ohio River Bridges Project and $585,000 for Falls of the Ohio State Park exhibits as a Ways and Means Committee member.

Served two decades in southern Indiana government and economic development, including roles on the Indiana Port Commission (1997-2006), Jeffersonville City Council (1992-1995), and numerous volunteer boards and charitable organizations.
