Representative Scott D. Pelath, elected to House District 9 in 1998, will leave the Indiana House of Representatives at the end of the 2018 session.

Pelath served as Chairman of the House Committee on Rules, Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Ways and Means, and Assistant Minority Leader, and was elected Minority Leader on November 8, 2012, serving until November 21, 2017.

Pelath sponsored the Great Lakes Water Use Compact, which became law in every Great Lakes state and Canadian province, and his commentary on state and national issues appeared in CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, Politico, Reuters, USA Today, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, and The Atlantic.

Pelath served as a first lieutenant in the United States Army Reserve, was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 2000 and 2016, and worked as a human resources director at the Swanson Center in Michigan City.

The Indiana House of Representatives bids farewell to Representative Pelath and directs the Principal Clerk to transmit copies of this resolution to him and his family.
