Representative Charlie Brown, elected to House District 3 in 1982, is retiring from the Indiana House of Representatives at the end of the 2018 session.

Served as Chairman of the Standing Committee on Public Health and on the Public Policy Committee and Statutory Committee on Interstate and International Cooperation.

Key legislative achievements include authoring House Enrolled Act 1678 and playing a leadership role in enacting the Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) in 2007, along with legislation on tobacco settlement funds, childhood obesity prevention, immunization policies, smoking cessation programs, Hoosier Rx, CHOICE home health services, mental health parity, and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday.

Received numerous awards and recognitions from organizations including the NAACP, Indiana Hospital Association, National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education, and the Alzheimer's Association of Indiana; inducted into Cheyney University Sports Hall of Fame.

The Indiana House of Representatives bids farewell to Representative Brown and directs the Principal Clerk to transmit copies of the resolution to him and his family.
