Representative Bill Friend is retiring from the Indiana House of Representatives at the end of the 2018 legislative session after being first elected to represent House District 23 in 1992.

Friend served as Minority Floor Leader, Speaker Pro Tempore, and on committees including Agriculture and Rural Development, Natural Resources, Environmental Affairs, Ways and Means, and Joint Rules Committee.

Prior to his House service, Friend held positions as Allen Township Trustee and Assessor, Miami County Auditor, Vice President of the Miami County Council, and Grissom Redevelopment Authority Treasurer.

Friend received multiple awards including 2003 Distinguished Alumni from the University of Indianapolis, 2006 Hardwood Hero award, and Industry Meritorious Service Award from the Indiana Pork Producers Association.

The House of Representatives bids farewell to Friend and directs the Principal Clerk to transmit copies of the resolution to Representative Friend and his family.
