Disabled Hoosier veterans who have been issued or are eligible for a disabled veteran license plate under IC 9-18.5-5 can now request a permanent parking placard from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles

Veterans requesting placards under this provision do not need to obtain separate medical certification of their disability, unlike other applicants who must be certified by physicians, optometrists, or other licensed health care providers

Effective date is July 1, 2018

Existing eligibility categories for permanent parking placards remain unchanged, including individuals with permanent physical disabilities requiring wheelchairs, walkers, braces, or crutches; loss of leg use; severe mobility restrictions; or permanent blindness/visual impairment
