House Enrolled Act 1448 (2015), known as "The Jennifer Act," was enacted to memorialize Jennifer Reynolds after she died from an accidental prescription drug overdose and received unanimous approval in both chambers before Governor Pence signed it into law on May 4, 2015.

The Jennifer Act includes provisions educating judges, prosecutors, and public defenders on diversion and probationary programs, medication-assisted treatment options, and civil commitment options for persons with addictive disorders.

The Act allowed inpatient substance abuse detoxification services to be provided under Medicaid.

The Indiana General Assembly urges continued recognition of The Jennifer Act as a way to combat addiction in Indiana communities.

The Secretary of the Senate is directed to distribute a copy of this resolution to Sharon Blair, mother of Jennifer Reynolds and advocate for The Jennifer Act.
