Indiana Senate urges Governor Holcomb to recognize September as Brain Aneurysm Awareness Month to raise awareness and help survivors.

Brain aneurysm is a weak bulging spot on the wall of a brain artery that can rupture and cause blood to escape into the space around the brain, usually requiring advanced surgical treatment.

Ruptured brain aneurysms are fatal in nearly forty percent of all cases, with four out of seven survivors experiencing disability and sixty-six percent suffering permanent neurological deficits.

Survivors of brain aneurysms face physical challenges, emotional challenges, depression, and potential deficits on their road to recovery.

Secretary of the Senate is directed to transmit copies of the resolution to Governor Eric Holcomb, the Brain Aneurysm Foundation, and Raymond Morefield.
