Indiana General Assembly honors Lieutenant General Bruce R. Harris, born August 13, 1934, in New Castle, Indiana, for his contributions to Indiana and the United States

General Harris served over 33 years in the U.S. Army, including two tours in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot with more than 500 combat missions, retiring on August 31, 1989

Military career included commanding the 13th Signal Battalion at Fort Hood (1972-1973), serving as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense in Legislative Affairs, and commanding Fort Gordon and the U.S. Army Signal Center (1986-1988) with approximately 20,000 personnel

Resolution encourages the Indiana Department of Transportation to rename a portion of State Road 3 from Interstate 70 to County Road 200 North in Henry County as the "Lieutenant General Bruce R. Harris Parkway"
