Indiana House of Representatives honors Mr. Calvin Parham for heroic efforts in saving his neighbor from a burning home in Ogden, Indiana on Friday, January 11 at approximately 6:23 a.m.

Mr. Parham smelled smoke, saw flames in his neighbor's house, ran inside, dialed 911, and found his bedridden neighbor Mr. Ed Norfleet, helping him escape through heavy smoke and flames.

The fire engulfed the front of the house with such intensity it was visible from miles away and required firefighters four hours to contain.

Spiceland Fire Chief Scott Teague stated that without Mr. Parham's actions, "we'd probably be having a funeral," noting that most civilians would not risk their lives in such a manner.

The Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to Representative Thomas Saunders for distribution.
