Indiana House Resolution recognizes Martin Center, Inc. (now Martin Center Sickle Cell Initiative) on its 50th anniversary, celebrating 50 years of service to Hoosiers with sickle cell disease in central Indiana

Founded in 1969 by Father Boniface Hardin and Dr. Raymond Pierce, it is the second oldest sickle cell community-based organization in the United States and the only facility dedicated to sickle cell disease support in central Indiana

Organization renamed to Martin Center Sickle Cell Initiative (MCSCI) in 2012 to reflect its mission of aiding those affected by sickle cell disease through client services, advocacy, and education

Has served hundreds of thousands of individuals throughout Indiana with services including disease and trait screening, health education, food pantry, support groups, financial assistance, transportation assistance, and counseling

Resolution formally recognizes the organization's positive contributions and congratulates it on its 50th anniversary, with a copy to be transmitted to State Representative Cherrish Pryor for distribution
