Indiana House Resolution congratulates Ms. Debra Bolaños on receiving the 2019 Indiana Heritage Fellowship Award for contributions to folk arts as a ballet folklórico dancer and instructor

Ms. Bolaños trained at the Ballet Folklórico School of Dance in Mexico City after graduating from Bishop Noll Institute in 1976, then returned to teach traditional folkloric dance in Northwest Indiana

Became artistic director and choreographer at Ballet Folklórico Las Villistas in 1978 and founded Xel-Ha Escuela de Danza in 1994 to promote Mexican culture through traditional dance

Serves as president of Sociedad Cultural y Civica la Reforma, board member of the Northwest Indiana Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and member of the Hispanic Women's Forum of Northwest Indiana

Resolution directs the Principal Clerk to transmit copies to State Representative Mara Candelaria Reardon's office for distribution
