Indiana General Assembly memorializes Judith "Judy" Gerdts Ripley, who passed away November 14, 2018, after a battle with cancer

Ripley served in multiple state government roles including assistant to the secretary of the Indiana Senate, assistant to the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, and Commissioner of the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (1998-2005)

Governor Mitch Daniels appointed her Director of the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions, where she served from 2005-2009

Ripley practiced family law for 18 years, worked as a lobbyist with Capitol Assets, and served as a legal mediator with the Indiana Department of Education

Co-founded a nonprofit organization now named The Judith G. Ripley Society for the preservation and revitalization of the White River
