Served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955 and married Patricia Lewis on October 14, 1956, raising three daughters.

Worked as an auctioneer for 64 years at Shipshewana Antique Auctions every Wednesday and co-founded Lewis and Lambright Auctioneers and Realtors.

Served as president of the Indiana Auctioneers Association and National Auctioneers Association, 16 years on the Indiana Auctioneer Commission (3 years as Chairman), and over 20 years as LaGrange County Republican Party Chairman.

Received honors including Sagamore of the Wabash in 1975, 1970 Realtor of the Year, and induction into both the Indiana Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame (1982) and National Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame (1984).
