Became Rising Sun's first full-time investigator, was promoted to sergeant, and served as Chief of Police beginning in 2004

Graduated from Rising Sun High School in 1987 and Vincennes University with a law enforcement degree; served as elected President of Compton Traditional Bowhunters, a national organization

Secretary of the Senate directed to transmit a copy of the resolution to Chief Hewitt's family, including wife Donna and children Olivia, Drew, Jake, and Sydney
