Mustafa Ayoubi was an emigrant from Afghanistan who became an American citizen and Indiana resident with an impressive academic record, including high honors high school graduation and a bachelor's degree in finance from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business.

Mustafa was shot eight times by an unprovoked, Islamaphobic driver during a road rage incident in February 2019, which unjustly cut short his life.

Mustafa is survived by three older sisters and a younger brother; his sister Zahra has publicly advocated for justice using #Justice4Mustafa on social media and continues supporting the Muslim community against acts of bigotry.

Hundreds of community members gathered at a vigil hosted by the Indiana University Muslim Association following his death to honor his life and demonstrate unity against hatred.

The Indiana Senate honors Mustafa Ayoubi's memory and directs the Secretary of the Senate to transmit a copy of this resolution to the Ayoubi family.
