Indiana House of Representatives congratulates the Crown Point Varsity hockey team for winning the 2019-2020 3A state championship on March 7, 2020, defeating Indianapolis Brebeuf 6-2 at Midwest Training & Ice Center in Hanover Township.

Team captains Grant Walker and Brendan Hegeduis (seniors) recorded 12 goals/10 assists and 21 goals/23 assists respectively; assistant captains Harry Wise and Nick Crook (seniors) finished with 4 goals/4 assists and 17 goals/13 assists respectively.

Junior Joey Gruber scored game-winning goals during semi-state weekend against Culver B and Lake Central in overtime, finishing with 14 goals and 17 assists; senior goalie Cole Thompson received defensive support from junior Conor Sivak and freshman Tyler Philipp.

Head coach Tim Philbin led the Bulldogs to their first state final win in 13 years with support from assistant coaches Bryan Philbin, Nick Kazmierczak, Tommy Merkelis, and goalie coach Dennis Biegel.

The championship is Crown Point's third overall state final win, with all roster members named in the resolution.
