Indiana General Assembly honors Sister M. Elise Kriss upon her retirement as President of the University of Saint Francis after 27 years of service, effective June 30, 2020

Under her leadership from 1993 to 2020, enrollment more than doubled from 961 to 2,249 students, and the institution changed its name from Saint Francis College to University of Saint Francis in 1998

Oversaw construction of multiple campus facilities including St. Francis Chapel, Bishop D'Arcy Stadium, Campus Ministry Center, and Doermer Family Center for Health Science Education

Expanded the university's geographic reach to Crown Point, Lafayette, Indianapolis, and online programs, while building partnerships with local businesses including Parkview Health and Sweetwater

Named Sagamore of the Wabash in 2016 for her dedication to higher education in northeast Indiana
