• Indiana House of Representatives recognizes and honors Carl Erskine, a 95-year-old lifelong Anderson resident and last surviving member of the Brooklyn Dodgers' "Boys of Summer"

• Erskine threw two no-hitters and set a World Series strikeout record during his 12-year Major League Baseball career in the 1940s and 1950s

• Erskine received Indiana's Sachem Award in 2010, was inducted into Indiana Historical Society's Indiana Living Legends in 1999, and served as a charter member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in 1954

• Known as the "grandfather of Special Olympics Indiana" with over 50 years of service and co-founder of the Wildcat Baseball League in Fort Wayne (1960), an all-inclusive youth league still operating over 60 years later

• Carl and Betty Erskine inspired creation of the Erskine Green Training Institute in Muncie and will celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary on October 5, 2022
