IN HB1533

Establishes a procedure to remove Marion superior court judges appointed under Indiana Code through a public question on the general election ballot.

Requires a petition signed by the number of registered Marion County voters needed to place a candidate on the ballot to initiate the removal question process.

Ballot questions for judge removal must state "Shall Judge (insert name) be removed from office?" and follow ballot placement rules under IC 3-11-2.

If a majority of voters votes "Yes" on the removal question, the judge's office becomes vacant on January 1 following the general election and is filled according to existing procedures.

Retention and removal questions for multiple judges must be listed in alphabetical order by surname, with all retention questions appearing before removal questions on the ballot.
