Gubernatorial nominees from primary elections or state conventions must certify their lieutenant governor running mate to the secretary of state by noon on July 15 before the general election.

Lieutenant governor candidates must file a declaration of candidacy with the secretary of state by the same July 15 deadline, including voter registration information, party affiliation, and a statement of economic interests.

Removes lieutenant governor from the list of offices nominated at state party conventions, shifting selection authority to the gubernatorial candidate.

If a gubernatorial candidate fails to certify a running mate or the lieutenant governor candidate fails to file by the deadline, the state party committee must fill the vacancy by August 15 before the general election.
