Courts must stay eviction proceedings for defendants who demonstrate they qualify for and have applied for housing assistance from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs or Indiana Department of Veterans' Affairs

The stay remains in effect until 45 days after the stay order is issued or until the housing assistance application is processed (assistance received or denied), whichever comes first

Upon expiration of the stay, the court must either dismiss the case, grant an additional stay, or authorize the plaintiff to proceed with the eviction based on the case facts
