Participants retiring after June 30, 2026, from the state excise police, gaming agent, gaming control officer, and conservation enforcement officers' retirement plan may elect a joint and survivor option, providing reduced lifetime benefits with continued payments to a designated beneficiary after death at 100%, 2/3, or 1/2 of the benefit amount.

One-time supplemental payments ("thirteenth checks") must be distributed by October 1, 2026, to retirees and survivors of the Indiana State Teachers' Retirement Fund and Indiana Public Employees' Retirement Fund who retired or became disabled on or before December 1, 2025, based on years of creditable service: $150 (5-9 years), $275 (10-19 years), $375 (20-29 years), or $450 (30+ years).

Similar one-time payments apply to participants in the state excise police, gaming agent, gaming control officer, and conservation enforcement officers' retirement plan using the same service-based payment tiers.

State police retirees under both the pre-1987 and 1987 benefit systems who retired or became disabled before July 2, 2025, receive a one-time payment equal to 1% of the maximum basic annual pension for a trooper with 20 or 25 years of service, respectively.

All one-time supplemental payment provisions expire January 1, 2028, and payments are not considered increases to the monthly pension benefit amount.
