Dealers must obtain and retain a photocopy or electronic scan of a purchaser's driver's license or ID card; for business purchasers, dealers may alternatively collect the federal employer identification number or ID of an authorized representative along with the business name

Transport operators applying for general distinctive registration numbers must have an established place of business with a physical Indiana address, or provide proof of valid U.S. Department of Transportation registration authorizing transport within Indiana, effective July 1, 2026

Dealerships must be licensed by the Secretary of State to operate in Indiana, with violations classified as a Class A infraction

All provisions take effect July 1, 2026
