Indiana Department of Education must prepare and submit a report on civics education to the General Assembly by October 1, 2026

Report must cover K-12 civics curriculum and practice, work-based learning and extracurricular civics initiatives, assessments of student preparedness for civic engagement, and longitudinal methods to evaluate program effectiveness

Department must consult with Indiana civics education organizations, educators responsible for civics instruction, and elected and appointed officials at state and local levels across all branches of government

Department may contract with a third party to prepare the report

Section expires January 1, 2027; effective date is July 1, 2026
