HB 1293 - Vulnerable Road Users

• Defines "vulnerable road user" to include first responders, road workers, farm equipment operators, tow truck operators, pedestrians, and cyclists (including e-bike riders)
• Requires the Indiana BMV to suspend or revoke the driver's license of anyone convicted of a moving traffic offense that causes the death of a vulnerable road user
• License suspension/revocation period ranges from 2 to 5 years when the offense results in death, based on court recommendation
• Excludes operating while intoxicated offenses (IC 9-30-5), which are handled under separate existing statutes
• Effective July 1, 2026
