Indiana General Assembly honors Don Fischer, known as the "Voice of the Hoosiers," for 53 years as the play-by-play broadcaster for Indiana University men's basketball and football since 1973

Fischer has called more than 2,000 games, including five NCAA basketball Final Fours, four NCAA championship games, two NIT championship games, and 12 bowl contests

Named Indiana Sportscaster of the Year 32 times by two organizations, inducted into the Indiana Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association Hall of Fame in 2004 and Indiana Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame in 2010

Served as Indianapolis Colts' preseason television anchor for 23 years (1995-2017) and covered the Indianapolis 500 while working as sports director for WIRE radio and Network Indiana

Called both the 1976 Hoosiers undefeated basketball season and the 2026 Hoosiers undefeated football season
