Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority was founded on January 15, 1908, with a mission to promote unity and friendship among college women and provide "Service to All Mankind"

Indiana has 23 Alpha Kappa Alpha chapters, including 8 on college campuses and 15 active alumnae groups throughout the state

The annual AKA Day event allows members to meet with lawmakers, participate in workshops, and advocate for issues such as Black maternal health and suicide prevention

Two current members of the Indiana General Assembly are Alpha Kappa Alpha members
