Marion County (containing Indianapolis as a consolidated city) would be authorized to enact firearm regulations more restrictive than state law if recommended by a law enforcement agency with jurisdiction in the county

Permitted local regulations include requiring safe storage of firearms, requiring a license to carry a handgun, expanding background checks, and prohibiting assault weapon purchases

Additional permitted regulations include raising the minimum firearm purchase age to 21 years and strengthening red flag laws for seizing firearms from dangerous persons

All local regulations adopted under this provision must comply with both the U.S. Constitution and Indiana Constitution
