Indiana University board of trustees will have 9 members: 5 appointed by the governor and 3 elected by IU alumni, plus 1 student trustee

Removes the governor's authority to remove and replace alumni-elected trustees, and eliminates the requirement that at least 5 appointed members be IU alumni

Alumni elections will be held on the secular day immediately preceding July 1, with nominations requiring 100+ alumni signatures filed by April 1; the university librarian conducts elections via electronic or printed ballot

Elected trustees serve 3-year terms; vacancies are filled by the IU Alumni Association executive council for the unexpired term

Initial 2026 election will replace 3 trustees appointed by the governor in June 2025, with staggered initial terms of 1, 2, and 3 years based on vote totals; effective upon passage as emergency legislation
