Indiana Department of Education must develop informational materials about type 1 diabetes for parents, in coordination with appropriate agencies or organizations, and publish them on the department's website

Public schools and charter schools must provide the type 1 diabetes informational materials to parents annually upon student enrollment, beginning with the 2026-2027 school year

Required materials must include a description of type 1 diabetes, associated risk factors and warning signs, and information about the necessity of blood autoantibody testing for early detection

Materials must recommend that parents of students showing warning signs or early detection screening results immediately consult with the student's doctor to develop a treatment plan, potentially including referral to an endocrinologist
