Indiana Department of Transportation and local zoning authorities are prohibited from applying zoning standards or requiring permits to relocate outdoor advertising signs that meet specified criteria, including equal advertising space, location within 660 feet of a road in commercial/industrial zones, and compliance with state size, lighting, and spacing standards

Relocation cannot result in upgrading a static outdoor advertising sign to an electronic billboard

Signs located within excluded cities (municipalities exempt from county zoning) cannot be relocated outside those city boundaries without approval from the receiving county or municipality

Zoning authorities may still require permits or inspections solely to ensure compliance with national building codes and fire prevention standards, but must issue decisions within 30 days or the permit is automatically granted
