Candidates seeking pro tempore appointment to fill vacancies in local offices or school board offices may file a declaration of candidacy with either the caucus chairman or the circuit court clerk, with clerks required to forward filings to the caucus chairman same-day

Caucus meeting notices may be rescinded when only one candidate seeks to fill a vacancy in a local office or school board office held by a major political party, eliminating the requirement to convene

Caucus chairmen must make reasonable efforts to notify caucus members when meetings are canceled due to having a single candidate

Caucus notices must now include the chairman's electronic mail address and telephone number in addition to name and physical address

Effective July 1, 2026; amends IC 3-13 regarding election procedures for filling vacancies
